Some updates.....It's been awhile!

Finally the end of summer vacation! The kids are back in school and my routine is starting to fall back into place. This doesn't mean my house is magically clean, just marginally less cluttered.
Mckyle has started the third grade this year and he has Aislynn's teacher.......that is to say, the teacher Aislynn was supposed to have this year moved up to third grade and so the yarn rolls on. He like his class so far. A first this year is that his "group" (the same kids he's been with since K) have been split up. So he's making new friends in class which isn't hard for him. Overall he has had a great start.
Aislynn started Kindergarten this year!! So far she has been having a great time. She's in her element among the other girls in class and she already has a new friend named Taylor. They haven't had any major homework yet but with the little bits she has had, the war has already begun. Aislynn only wants to do things when she feels like it and not a moment before. The rule in our house has always been homework first thing after school, then play. She is supposed to get her first homework packet tomorrow so we will see.
My big boy Rory started preschool this year. We have had a rough start because he has been getting sick, so he has missed a little bit. It started with a runny nose so bad, he looked like he had turned green. Yuck! So we stayed home for a couple of days. Then he had some tummy troubles which resulted in the unsavory condition of the classroom restroom. I won't give details but I am so sorry Mr. D (the custodian). So home we stayed again for a few days. He finally had his 3 year check up and he is great in most aspects. He has, however, been given the official title of Asthma. After the hospital stay in March followed by the breathing attacks in April, June, and September, he will now be taking preventative medication for the whole of flu and cold season and has a rescue inhaler for attacks. But he loves school! And at recess you can find him on the swings the whole time yelling "Faster!".
My little Ollie is finally making progress with his weight. After a rocky start, he is starting to put on the weight and catch up to where he should be. He will be 5 months in a couple of days and just barely weighs 12 lbs. He is also starting stink bug his way into crawling position. He can't stay up for long but he is close! He is also reaching for toys and interesting things in his line of sight. I love being able to squish him and squeeze him. We have another weight check next week so I will update then.
The rest of us are doing good. Can't wait for desert season! I have not rode my bike in a year and a half and I am so excited! Till next time, Tally-Ho!

Stuck At Prom

I was recently forwarded the link for this contest and you guys should check it out! It is sponsored by Duck Brand Duct Tape. The contestants had to create their Prom outfits using only duct tape. I have to say that these are really cool! Here is the link for the top 10 finalists. My personal favorite is entry # 87 and just so you will check out the link, here is a preview:

Speci@l K is for Champions!

Why do I not know how to spell, you ask? Because I do not want some random person typing in a g**gle search for Speci@l K (see a pattern here), and stumbling across my random rantings and deciding to call the authorities............
So onto my original topic, I LOVE this cereal. It actually tastes really good. The nutritional value is what prompted me to buy this in the first place, that and the commercial. It claims you can lose weight by doing the Speci@l K diet. Frankly, I'm desperate. I know, I know. Ollie is not even 2 months old but it's a cruel, cruel world people! And I'm fat. Okay, chubbie. Alright! A tire would be a better description of my middle. Can I at least call it a bicycle tire? It's smaller. But I digress! This cereal is yummy. So I pulled out my favorite cereal bowl this morning and measured 1 serving........which is equal to 1 cup. I mean 1 cup is a lot right? WRONG! It looks like dried up leaves at the bottom of an old wishing well. It's so low, I can barely distinguish ridges on the flakes, hell I can't even see individual flakes. So I figure at 120 calories per serving, I can afford 1 more cup. So I measure and pour. It's getting better. I figure if I leave out the milk, I should be able to add 1 more cup. It was still a little low but I figure I was probably eating about 6 cups of fruit loops before. So at this rate, I should see weight loss in about a year. Or I could just get a smaller bowl.........

Oh Chocolate, Why Doth Thy Hate Me So?

That sweet little morsel of pleasure, so sweet, so pleasurable. Made from amber waves of chocolate. Created with my hearts desire in mind. Small kisses if I'm feeling conscientious (although I usually eat 15 thus rendering the size moot in the first place). King size bars if I feel like a cheat day.......almost every day. I try to resist your wiles but you keep pulling me in with your sweet promises of pleasure and life everlasting. I have, however, begun to notice a trend in my daily pursuit of happiness. The size of my ASS is getting bigger. I walk everyday so that I can enjoy one of your tiny little morsels. Then I do some narly cardio so that I can work off the chocolate bar I ate for lunch. Nothing is working. I try to switch over to chocolate flavored diet shakes and snack bars, but they LIE! This is not quality chocolate, you lie, you impostor, you cheat! Who do you think you are Chocolate!? You don't get to have a monopoly on all the desirable chocolate! Cut some of us fat girls a break and provide us with some HEALTHY non-fat chocolate that actually tastes good! You wanna go!?!?! Come on, I'll meet you outside! Let's settle this you back-stabbing ass plumper!

Okay, I'm sorry. That last one was uncalled for........but why do you hate me so? I love you! No really, you don't understand....I LOOOOVVVEEE you!

You don't say goodbye....

How do you stop yourself from becoming the emotional junkpile you are? When it's time to say goodbye to someone you love even though you REALLY don't want to, what do you do? I hate goodbyes. I remember when I moved from my childhood home, halfway across the WORLD (okay 4 hours away) I was devastated! It was horrible. I cried and cried and hated my mom for ruining my life. She really did. I was about to start the highlight of my life.....High School. Do you know how it feels to be the new kid in HIGH SCHOOL!?!?!? Ruined! So I ask you this my friend, why would you want to put me through that again? Do you not love me back? Am I not important enough for you? (I realize that I am the center of your world as well as everyone elses, I understand my self worth.) You are going to be miserable without me. And while I realize that my e-mails and witty comebacks will continue to amuse you and brighten your life, your seriously going to miss the effect my sunshine has on your soul (but it is only effective in person....). So I say this with much seriousness and bravado....PLEASE DON'T LEAVE!!!!!!!!! If you choose to ignore my wise advice (and I worry my little turtle that you will) then I cannot say goodbye. I will bite my lip to help stop the quiver I feel beginning to betray me. I will ignore the twitch I have developed in my left butt cheek. I am utterly sad, only because I know how much you are going to miss me and I am anticipating the raw emotions you will suffer. Be strong! And please don't say goodbye..........

Cheyenne's Birthday Dress

For her birthday, my niece Cheyenne asked me to make her a special birthday dress. That was all she asked for. So I created this for her. I didn't like using the interfacing in the yoke neckline but it was necessary (?). Unfortunately, there were no shots with the little model. So here it is....

Productivity and Kids

So how productive was I last night???????? Woo hoo, I finished cleaning all the blinds, check. Fixed the zipper on Brandy's couch cushions, check. Fixed Samantha's pants so she can look like a freak, check. Finished another diaper, check. Got the pattern traced and cut for Cole and Alexis's PJs, check! And completed a fleece diaper cover, which looks faboo, check! Check! Check!! I was on a roll and kicken ugly little teenager skinny butts! Have a list started this morning which includes more sewing and cleaning (insert heaving here). Unfortunately, Rory is sick again and I have to take him in. Image the sound effect wha wha whaaaaaa. Hopefully he is okay because I have no desire to repeat the last sick episode with him. At least Gary is here this time. Will update later.

Small Update.....

So I am running around like a chicken right now.......I am so glad we are finally doing the remodel on our house and I know it is going to look great when we are done but it is very stressful. I think the worst part is when you expect something to be done in a certain amount of time and it takes longer. Then it inevitably delays everything else. On top of it all, Gary is leaving on Thursday for his 2 week trip to Colorado. Then he has to come back and work like crazy before this new baby gets here. Which hopefully won't be too early. Cause we have a remodel to finish.......
Onto baby news, he is making me exhausted!!!! And I was informed this morning that I am snoring. Great! He is healthy like always and moving like crazy. He hates spicy food but mama loves it so too bad..... ;-)
Off to buy a new iron and get the kids outta the house so hubby can paint.
